Mill Room / Spray Room Lead

Location: Harrisonburg, VA

Job Purpose:

This position is a working position primarily responsible for supervising the safety, daily activities, training, and development of the team members working for them while also performing their duties in the Mill / Spray Room.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall Safety and Continuous Improvement of their department as well as enforcement of all company policies and procedures.
  • Facilitates communication between their team members and supervisor / management.
  • Provides effective supervision and leadership to assigned team members to safely achieve required quality and production goals.
  • Participate with the supervisor / manager in effective team member feedback.
  • Provides the necessary resources and training for their team members to be effective and efficient.
  • Ensures all tasks are done per procedures and performed safely.
  • Proactively resolves technical and team member issues.
  • Performs all duties as required in the Mill / Spray Room and other duties as assigned.
  • Supports issue resolution including root cause investigation & corrective action tracking.
  • Communicates proactively throughout the department to keep all team members informed, listens to the team members.
  • Able to perform all jobs in their department and fill in as the next highest level as necessary.
  • Champion the Mill / Spray Room – All orders going through the Mill and Spray Room should be done safely, to great quality, efficiently, and on time.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Supervisor experience preferred but no required.
  • Extensive woodworking technical knowledge and skill required.
  • Communicate clearly using excellent listening and verbal skills.
  • Basic knowledge of operating a computer and using Microsoft office.
  • Physical ability to do the job required in the department (standing on feet all day, ability to lift, pull or push 50 lbs., repetitive hand and wrist motions, and the ability to drive powered equipment).
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Schedule is typically Monday through Friday 6:00 am – 2:30 pm but must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekday and weekend overtime as needed.
